Body lotions with microcrystalline chitosan
Body lotions – how to choose the right one?
We apply body lotion after a bath or shower, when the skin is still slightly damp and ready to absorb skin care ingredients. Its purpose is to moisturize and nourish the epidermis – and to maintain these effects for several hours, not just a few minutes.
Most lotions do this superficially: a light oil-in-water emulsion absorbs quickly but does not build a lasting moisture barrier, and the skin returns to dryness even before the next bath.
RegCare body lotions with microcrystalline chitosan complement the effect of the shower gel – while the chitosan shower gel protects the skin barrier during washing, the lotion enhances skin hydration and nourishment after bathing. Chitosan creates a bioadhesive film on the epidermis, which reduces transepidermal water loss and imparts softness that lasts all day long.

Who is the chitosan body lotion for?
-
Dry, rough, and flaking skin: Daily use of chitosan lotion helps maintain the correct level of epidermal hydration – the skin becomes soft and deeply moisturized, while flaking and roughness are visibly reduced with regular care.
-
After-sun skin and skin during the autumn-winter season: UV radiation and dry, heated air in winter dry out the epidermis and weaken the skin barrier. The chitosan lotion supports skin nourishment after these stresses – the chitosan film helps restore proper hydration and softness.
-
Atopic and sensitive skin: Chitosan is biocompatible and hypoallergenic – the lotion is designed, among other things, for the care of skin prone to atopic dryness and irritation.
-
Daily moisturizing as prevention: Regularly used lotion prevents skin dryness before it appears – this is a simpler strategy than intensively moisturizing already severely dried skin.
Note: The body lotion supports epidermal hydration – in the case of atopic dermatitis (AD), skin lesions, and dermatological conditions, consult your skin care with a dermatologist.
How to choose a body lotion?
When choosing a body lotion with chitosan, it is worth answering one question: what does the skin need more – hydration and structural rebuilding, or nourishment and lipid replenishment?
-
Hydration and structural rebuilding: Recommended when the skin quickly loses elasticity, requires after-sun support, or regeneration after treatments. Look for formulas combining chitosan with humectants (hyaluronic acid) and biopolymers (collagen, elastin) – they work on multiple levels, not just on the surface.
-
Nourishment and lipid replenishment: Recommended when the skin is dry, rough, and requires lipid replenishment. Look for formulas combining chitosan with emollients: shea butter and plant oils – the effect is softness and reduced roughness after just a few applications.
RegCare offers body lotions in both approaches – detailed compositions and differences between variants can be found on the product pages.
Microcrystalline chitosan in body lotion – what you need to know
In a body lotion, chitosan acts as a film-forming ingredient: applied to the skin after bathing, it forms a thin bioadhesive film that reduces transepidermal water loss (TEWL). Body skin has a thicker epidermis than facial skin – the chitosan film applied regularly after every bath strengthens the barrier long-term, instead of just temporarily moisturizing the outer layer.

RegCare products are manufactured in our own laboratory in Jelnik, under ISO 7 cleanliness conditions. We produce the microcrystalline chitosan ourselves – it is the core of the CHITOMED P.S.A. technology.
How to use body lotion with chitosan?
-
Apply to slightly damp skin right after showering – residual moisture helps the chitosan spread evenly and lock in hydration more effectively.
-
Rub in circular motions until absorbed.
-
For dry skin, use daily after bathing; for normal skin – during the winter season or when a feeling of dryness occurs.
The chitosan gel protects the barrier during washing, while the lotion enhances hydration after bathing – used together, they provide a more noticeable and longer-lasting effect.
FAQ – frequently asked questions about body lotions
What should I look for when choosing a body lotion with chitosan?
The ingredients accompanying the chitosan are key. A formula with humectants and biopolymers (hyaluronic acid, collagen) provides multi-level hydration and support for the skin structure. A formula with emollients (shea butter, plant oils) has a nourishing and lipid-replenishing effect – effective for dry, rough skin in need of lipid replenishment. Both types of formulas can be used interchangeably depending on the season.
How often should I use body lotion with chitosan?
Optimally once a day after showering, on slightly damp skin. For very dry skin, it can be used morning and evening. For normal skin, using it every 1–2 days or seasonally is sufficient – especially in winter, when dry air in heated rooms accelerates moisture loss.
What skin types do you recommend the chitosan body lotion for?
Primarily for dry, rough skin that requires regular hydration – after-sun skin, during the winter season, atopic, and sensitive skin. It also works well for normal skin as prevention against dryness. For dermatological problems and atopic dermatitis (AD) – consult the selection with a dermatologist.
