Facial cleansing – gentle cleansing without compromise

Facial cleansing – how to choose a cleansing product?

Facial cleansing is a skincare step repeated twice a day, rarely questioned – until the skin starts reacting: stinging after washing, dryness despite using creams, and increased sensitivity. The cause is often the cleanser itself, not over-care.

Popular facial washes rely on surfactants that remove sebum, makeup, and impurities, but in aggressive formulas they also disrupt the natural lipid film and skin barrier. The result: clean skin, but weakened skin that reacts more easily to irritation.

RegCare offers two facial cleansing products with a different approach: sterile micellar water of medical purity and natural Savon Noir black soap. Both cleanse without aggressing the skin barrier, using very simple, minimal formulations. Neither product contains chitosan – if you are looking for chitosan-based facial care, see our facial creams with chitosan.

Who are RegCare facial cleansing products for?

Very sensitive, reactive, and atopic skin
Sterile micellar water of medical purity is an option for skin that reacts with stinging or redness to most cleansing products. No active surfactants, no irritants, and no unnecessary additives means minimal risk of irritation in daily use.

Normal and combination skin seeking natural formulas
Savon Noir is a traditional black soap based on natural plant ingredients. It cleanses face and body without synthetic thickeners or parabens. A good choice for those who prefer minimalist skincare.

Oily or sebum-prone skin
Both products cleanse without over-drying. Harsh detergents can increase sebum production as a defensive response; gentle cleansing helps maintain balance.

Minimal ingredient skincare
For those seeking cleansing with the shortest possible ingredient list, free from fragrances, colorants, and unnecessary additives.

Micellar water or Savon Noir – how to choose?

Sterile micellar water
A product of medical-grade purity. Removes makeup, sebum, and environmental impurities using gentle micelles, without disrupting the skin barrier. No rinsing required. The gentlest option for extremely sensitive and atopic skin.

Savon Noir – natural black soap
A traditional solid soap made from natural plant-based ingredients. Suitable for face and body. Produces mild foam and works well for normal and combination skin. Note: it has an alkaline pH – for sensitive skin, micellar water is the gentler choice.

How to use facial cleansing products?

Micellar water – apply to a cotton pad and gently wipe the face. For sensitive skin, avoid rubbing. Can be used without rinsing or rinsed with lukewarm water if preferred.

Savon Noir – wet the face with lukewarm water, create foam in your hands, and cleanse in circular motions for 20–30 seconds. Rinse thoroughly and finish with cooler water. Always apply moisturizer afterwards.

After cleansing, apply toner or cream to slightly damp skin – cleansing prepares the skin for the next skincare steps.

FAQ – facial cleansing

What is the difference between micellar water and facial wash gel?
Gel cleanses using surfactants that require rinsing and may be more effective for oil and makeup removal, but can disrupt the barrier. Micellar water cleanses via micelles and is gentler, especially for sensitive skin.

Does RegCare micellar water need rinsing?
No. It can be left on the skin. Rinsing is optional and does not affect effectiveness.

Is Savon Noir suitable for all skin types?
Best for normal, combination, and oily skin. For very sensitive or dry skin, it may be too strong due to its alkaline pH.

How often should I cleanse my face?
Twice daily – morning and evening. Evening cleansing is essential to remove impurities, sebum, and makeup. Morning cleansing prepares the skin for skincare products.
